Just a quick follow up to the story I posted in mid October about the finding of an original Beethoven manuscript at my mom's school. The pages - a working copy in his own hand, full of corrections, edits, and notes on how to play the piece - contained a fascinating glimpse into the creative process of the author.
Personally I am not a huge Beethoven fan, but still - getting to see this in person was really cool. At the least, it renewed some of my interest in Beethoven. Of all the well known Romantic/Classical composers he is actually the one I have listened to and studied the least.
So how did Palmer Theological Seminary do at the auction? Long story short - the manuscript was sold by Sotheby's in London for about 1.7 Million US dollars! That comes to about 25K per page. Nice.
